Martha's Vineyard has an excellent public transportation system, making the need for bringing a vehicle unnecessary!
The traditional way to arrive to the Vineyard is by ferry from Woods Hole (45-minute trip.) To get the car on the Island it is necessary to have a reservation. You may leave your car at one of the Steamship Authority (SSA) parking lots in Falmouth and take the shuttle to Woods Hole (508-477-8600 for reservations.) You may fly and then take a bus from Providence, Boston, or New York. Peter Pan Bus offers a combination bus/ferry ticket. Contact your travel agent for best assistance.
There are buses and taxis from the airport or ferry landings to West Chop. It is about a twenty-minute ride from the airport, ten minutes from Vineyard Haven, and twenty minutes from Oak Bluffs.
